FAQs
What is the process of acquiring a puppy?
At North Bay Golden Retrievers, we’re passionate about connecting loving families with happy, healthy puppies. Our process begins with getting to know you a little better—tell us about yourself, your lifestyle, and why you’re interested in bringing a Golden Retriever into your home. We want to ensure our puppies go to the best possible homes where they’ll be loved and well cared for. Once we’ve learned more about you, a deposit is required to reserve your puppy! This helps us plan placements and prepare your future furry family member for their new adventure with you!
How does it work picking out a puppy?
We honor the order of reservations to ensure a fair and organized selection process. Families who place their deposits early will have first pick of the litter, based on the order in which reservations are received. This means the first reservation gets first choice, the second reservation gets second pick, and so on. You can reserve a spot and wait for them to grow to choose if you want! We believe this system gives everyone a clear understanding of their place in line and allows each family to choose the puppy that best fits their needs and personality preferences. We will be doing a meet and greet with the puppies and parents later in May!
Pricing?
To reserve a puppy from us, we require a $250 deposit, which secures your spot in the pick order. The total cost of a puppy is $2,000, and your deposit will be applied toward that final amount. This means when it’s time to take your puppy home, the remaining balance will be $1,750. The deposit helps us plan ahead for each puppy's future home and ensures a committed match for both the family and the pup
Can we meet the puppies parents?
For the safety of both our customers and our animals, we do not allow visits with the puppies' parents. Adult dogs can be protective of their young, and unfamiliar visitors may cause them stress or lead to unpredictable behavior. Limiting contact helps ensure a calm, secure environment for both the puppies and their parents. Our top priority is the well-being of all our animals. We are doing a meet and greet with the puppies and their parents later in may. We are also open to weekly pictures, videos, video calls! We want to provide an amazing experience for you!
Will they be vaccinated/dewormed?
All of our puppies will receive their first round of vaccinations and deworming before going to their new homes. This is an important step in setting them up for a healthy start in life. The initial shots help protect them from common illnesses, while the dewormer ensures they are free from internal parasites. We work closely with our veterinarian to make sure each puppy is properly cared for and up to date on their health needs before joining your family.
Are they purebred Golden Retrievers?
Yes! Our male, Louie, is AKC registered and comes from a strong lineage of therapy dogs, known for their calm temperaments and gentle personalities—traits we’re proud to pass on to his puppies. Our female, Duchess, is not AKC registered, but we do have photos and information confirming her parents, giving insight into her background and lineage. Both Louie and Duchess are wonderful examples of the Golden Retriever breed, and together they produce sweet, well-rounded puppies perfect for families and individuals alike.
How big are the parents?
Louie, our male Golden Retriever, weighs around 75 pounds and has a strong, athletic build with a laid-back and friendly personality. Duchess, our female, is slightly smaller at about 70 pounds and has a gentle, affectionate nature that makes her a favorite with everyone she meets.
Will the puppies be sent with anything?
When it’s time for your puppy to go home, we make sure the transition is as smooth and comforting as possible. Each puppy will leave with their favorite toy and a special item that carries the scent of their littermates and mom. Some of the food their familiar with. This familiar scent helps ease the adjustment to their new environment, providing a sense of comfort and security during those first few days away from their siblings. It's just one of the ways we help your new puppy feel safe, loved, and ready to settle into their forever home.
Will you be training your puppies?
We begin early training with our puppies to give them a strong foundation before they go to their new homes. This includes gentle leash introduction and the start of potty training to help establish good habits early on. While our puppies make great progress during their time with us, they are still very young and will need continued training, consistency, and patience as they grow. We do our best to give them a head start, so you can focus on bonding and building on the basics when they join your family.
Health guarantee?
We stand behind the health and well-being of our puppies. We offer a 72-hour health guarantee from the time your puppy goes home. During this period, we strongly recommend having your new puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian. If, within those 72 hours, a licensed vet finds a serious or life-threatening health condition, you may return the puppy with written documentation for a full refund (excluding the deposit). This guarantee ensures peace of mind as you welcome your new family member and confirms our commitment to raising happy, healthy puppies.
Returns?
At North Bay Goldens, we are committed to finding each puppy a lifelong, loving home. While we do not accept returns once a puppy has been placed, we understand that unexpected life changes can happen. If you find yourself unable to care for your puppy at any point, we ask that you contact us first—we will gladly assist in finding a safe and suitable new home. Our goal is always to ensure the well-being of our dogs, and we’re here to support you and your pup, even after they leave our care.
